Nowadays, Cancer is almost
synonymous to death. People tend to think that having Cancer gives you a reason
to hate your life because apparently, its end is coming and the only thing you
could do is prolong it, causing you hundreds of thousands of pesos in the
process. Indeed, Cancer kills not only your body, but your bank account as
well.
I have no close relative whatsoever
who has suffered this disease but it is obviously a concept full of negativity.
However, after listening to the podcast, I realized that not all people look at
Cancer as a curse that they have to die with. Rather, they look at it as
something to live with. I found out in the podcast that people have different
means of coping up with Cancer and this probably reflects the person attitude
and outlook in life.
Personally, I know that the fight
against Cancer is a losing battle but I think people can still come out
victorious against it, even in death. I realized that it is possible to look at
the bright side of Cancer, and when we do, we’ll see that having Cancer gives
us an opportunity to appreciate life even more. Cancer shouldn’t make us
terrified, depressed or unlucky, but it makes us fortunate that we are able to
live in such a beautiful world no matter how sour the ending is.
Luckily, there are several people
who dominated their fight against Cancer. These are the Cancer survivors who
serve as beacons of hope for those who are just entering the war. We have the
weapons to fight this war, but they are not yet good enough. Scientists are
working very hard to find the perfect weapon that would slay this enemy once
and for all. And when that time comes, humanity will rejoice in one of its
biggest victories: conquering Cancer.
At present, however, the war is far
from over. All we could do for now is be resilient, and fight with persistence.
Early detection is key in recovering from any disease including Cancer. It
would save us the pain of late detection and saving a lot of money. Living a
healthy lifestyle also prevents us from having this disease. Indeed, prevention
is better than cure.
The Language of Cancer is the
Language of War. I strongly believe that we have the capacity to win this
battle with perseverance, determination, and heart. We can beat Cancer.
